Tesla Inc. has begun replacing its "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)" branding on European websites with "Tesla Assisted Driving," a move that comes after German officials criticized the FSD name as potentially misleading because the system still requires driver supervision.

Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt first flagged the live branding change on X on Oct. 8, posting screenshots showing "Tesla Assisted Driving" on the company's European websites. Not a Tesla App subsequently reported that Tesla had adopted the new name across the continent.

Germany's Federal Ministry of Transport had said two days earlier that Transport Minister Steffen Bilger wants Tesla's system approved across Europe "in a timely manner." "My goal is for Tesla drivers to be able to use the benefits of Assisted Driving throughout the EU as quickly as possible," Bilger said. The ministry called the FSD name "somewhat misleading," noting that the system does not take over the complete driving task and drivers must remain attentive.

Tesla offered the rename during talks with German officials over technical and liability issues, Reuters reported on Wednesday. CEO Elon Musk welcomed Germany's backing with "Danke Schön!" as the company's European approval push gained momentum.

The branding shift is visible on Tesla's European pages. Its German safety site now uses Tesla Assisted Driving, while UK support pages use "Tesla Assisted Driving Basic" and state that enabled features do not make the vehicle autonomous. Some European event pages still carried the FSD name this week, suggesting the transition is not yet uniform.

That approval remains contested. Reuters reported Germany supports allowing the system to operate up to 10% above detected speed limits, while France and Sweden objected, pushing an EU vote from October to at least December. Tesla's European regulatory campaign has faced scrutiny after traffic-safety researchers questioned elements of safety evidence it submitted to regulators.

The Netherlands approved FSD Supervised in April after an extensive review, opening a route toward broader European authorization. The Dutch approval marked Tesla's first European breakthrough. Reuters reported eight EU countries had approved the system by Wednesday, while Slovakia said Thursday it expected to become the ninth within days.

Tesla's naming changes also come amid a broader push to replace "AI" with "SI," short for "Super Intelligence." Merritt said Tesla AI had been renamed "Tesla SI," although Tesla has yet to issue a formal corporate announcement and some company pages still use the Tesla AI label.

Trump has actively pushed the terminology change, signing a Sept. 29 executive order directing federal agencies to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" instead of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI." Musk has embraced the shift elsewhere, confirming that SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI.

Building a resilient portfolio means thinking beyond a single asset or market trend. Economic cycles shift, sectors rise and fall, and no one investment performs well in every environment. That's why many investors look to diversify with platforms that provide access to real estate, fixed-income opportunities, precious metals, and even self-directed retirement accounts. By spreading exposure across multiple asset classes, it becomes easier to manage risk, capture steady returns, and create long-term wealth that isn't tied to the fortunes of just one company or industry.

By advancing projects through permitting, fuel supply, and grid interconnection, the company is positioning itself to help meet rising energy needs while offering investors exposure to the infrastructure supporting the next wave of AI and industrial growth.

As AI coding tools take on more of the work traditionally done by developers, companies are facing new challenges around code quality, context and the rising cost of AI-powered development.
