NYC teacher’s outrageous pro-terror comments: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 12, 2026

Make New York Post a Preferred Source PS 77 is pictured in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, on Oct. 4, 2026. The school employs a teacher named Damien Neva, who allegedly wrote statements in support of Hamas after the Oct. 7, 2023, attack in Israel. Gregory P. Mango for NY Post The Issue: PS 77 teacher Damien Neva’s text praising the mastermind of the Oct. 7 massacre in a group chat.

Damien Neva — the “proud” American teacher at PS 77 in Park Slope — had the audacity to praise terror leader Yahya al-Sinwar just weeks after the first anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7 (“Call to face punishment,” Oct. 6).

If he truly feels this way, then Neva should leave the US and go live with Hamas in Gaza.

First our college educators’ curriculum is infected with antisemitism, and now Neva’s outrageous comments were espoused by someone who gets in front of students.

What’s next — kindergarten teachers teaching our youngsters about Palestine, Hamas and oppression?

And why is Mayor Mamdani — who is supposedly fighting Jewish hate — not condemning the toxic rhetoric of Neva?

As long as politicians sign contracts with the teachers unions, people like Neva will continue to pollute our children’s minds and never be fired.

Try firing a teacher in New York. It’s impossible — they’re paid no matter what.

New Yorkers need to wake up! These teachers — whom you entrust your children with — are poisoning their minds with hateful messages.

Stand up, have a backbone and put an end to this outright tainting of our future.

Don’t you see what the mayor is encouraging? This teacher should be fired.

No wonder parents don’t want their kids in New York City public schools.

The kids aren’t learning anything in the classroom except that they should support Hamas terrorists.

On the question of terminating Neva: A regularly assigned teacher is entitled to union representation, grievance filings and hearings.

A variety of remedies may emerge, such as termination of service, sensitivity training, voluntary withdrawal or corrective action measures.

This process may take a year or longer before any closure is reached.

The Issue: Attorney General Letitia James performance in her debate against GOP rival Saritha Komatireddy.

Challenger Saritha Komatireddy absolutely wiped the floor with Attorney General Letitia James in the televised debate (“James wilts under rival,” Oct. 9).

Komatireddy — a seasoned prosecutor who worked for three presidents — eviscerated James’ lack of criminal prosecutions, failure to pursue hate crimes (especially antisemitism), bail-reform laws favoring criminals over victims and biased persecutions of political enemies.

James was stone-faced and irritable throughout, incredibly insistent that her office basically pursues civil cases.

It’s about time that New Yorkers elect a competent, fair-minded attorney general who actually knows how to — and will — enforce the law, rather than a political hack looking for her next photo op.

James is a poor example of what the top law-enforcement officer in the state should be.

Her personal vendetta against President Trump and her zealous political ambitions make it impossible for her to exercise the objectivity the position requires.

Former Mayor Ed Koch once implied that unsuccessful lawyers turn to politics as a career alternative. Letitia James is an example of a failed lawyer turned failed politician.
