3 Mexican men found guilty of killing Australian brothers, US pal on surfing trip

Make New York Post a Preferred Source Three Mexican men were found guilty of killing two Australian brothers and their American friend during a surfing trip in Baja California, Mexico in April 2024.

After a month-long trial in the coastal city of Ensenada, Judge Raúl Hernández ruled Friday that Jesús Gerardo García, alias “El Kekas,” Irineo Francisco “N”, and Ángel Jesús “N” murdered Australians Callum and Jake Robinson and American Carter Redd Rhoad.

The three men were also found guilty of armed robbery and armed carjacking.

“Today’s guilty verdict is a significant moment in our long and painful journey to seek justice for our beautiful sons, Callum and Jake, and their friend Carter Rhoad, whose lives were so cruelly taken from them in 2024,” Martin Robinson said.

The pals were reported missing shortly after arriving in the town of Punta San Jose in Baja California — around 50 miles away from Ensenada.

Nearly a week later on May 3, the bodies of Callum, 33, Jake, 30 and Carter, 30, were found at the bottom of a well nearby their white pick-up truck which was badly burnt.

García, who was identified as the perpetrator of the triple-murders, was arrested in May 2024 alongside his ex-girlfriend Ary Gisell Silva Raya, Irineo Francisco and Ángel Jesús.

Silva Raya testified that García approached the trio’s tent armed with a 9mm pistol and that the tourists threw their belongings at him in an attempt to fend off the attack.

One of the tourists pleaded for his life, she testified.

García allegedly tried to steal tires and other parts from the surfers’ pickup truck, according to Baja California Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez.

Prosecutors believe García shot the men when they resisted and later concealed their bodies in a well.

The three Mexican men will be sentenced on Oct. 16 — with the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office requesting each of them receive the “exemplary sentence” of 210 years behind bars.

Silva Raya was found in possession of the traveler’s cell phones and was sentenced in November 2025 to 20 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and violent vehicle.
