The top-ranked Texas Longhorns had at least a couple chances to win their third-straight Red River Rivalry, but the top-ranked team in the country faltered on its biggest stage of the college season.

Instead, the unranked Oklahoma Sooners took advantage of a missed field goal in the final minutes and two fourth-quarter interceptions by Arch Manning to pull off a wild 27-24 upset victory in Dallas.

The Red River Rivalry looked like it would be all Texas early, as Arch Manning made one of his better plays, running to his left and throwing a 41-yard touchdown. Oklahoma matched it in the next quarter, but Texas was able to take a 17-7 lead at the half.

However, the Longhorns offense stalled, and the Sooners offense picked up in the fourth quarter. Oklahoma was able to squeak out a field goal in the third, while both teams exchanged punts, but the Sooners opened up the fourth quarter with a game-tying touchdown run by Lloyd Avant, erasing their double-digit deficit.

Both teams exchanged punts yet again, but on Texas’ second drive of the fourth quarter, Manning overthrew a receiver, and it was picked off by Peyton Bowen and taken to the house for a 42-yard pick-6, giving Oklahoma a 24-17 lead with 10:07 to go.

Manning was down, but not out, as he hit Cam Coleman on a 342-yard dime to snatch all momentum. Manning found Jermaine Bishop Jr. two plays later to tie the score with 6:32 remaining. Texas then forced a punt after four plays and were in the driver's seat.

The Longhorns quickly got on the other side of the field, but they had to settle for a 52-yard field goal try - however, it went wide-right, and it was Oklahoma ball with 1:54 to go at their own 35. After forcing an Oklahoma punt, Texas had a shot to end the game in walk-off fashion, but Manning threw yet another fourth-quarter interception, ending that threat.
