Lunar eclipse will begin before moonrise, at 6.22pm that day, when part of the moon starts to enter Earth’s shadow, and end at 10.25pm
The global event will take place in the city on the evening of March 3, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
“The total eclipse process can be directly observed with [the naked] eye from [certain] places with an unobstructed view to the east, if weather permits,” the Observatory said on Friday.
The lunar eclipse is expected to begin before moonrise, at 6.22pm that day, when the moon starts to enter the Earth’s shadow, known as the umbra.
The moon is expected to be completely covered by the umbra at 7.04pm, marking the start of the total eclipse phase.
The maximum eclipse is expected to occur at 7.34pm. The moon will begin its exit from the umbra at 8.03pm.
