‘Monster’ babysitter starved tot, then scarfed down food in front of her

A “monster” babysitter cruelly abused her friends’ baby girl, withholding food and water for hours and even pretending to shoot the starving child with a toy gun when she would wail.

Carly Rae Webb, 21 — who last week landed a year behind bars for her heinous crimes — neglected and physically abused the baby at the parents’ home in Bedford County, Va., while supposedly caring for her from October 2023 to January 2024

The parents had surveillance cameras in the home that captured nearly all of the abuse — but only thought check them after Webb made an offhanded comment in early 2024, WDBJ 7 reported.

Carly Rae Webb, 21, horrifically abused her friends’ baby daughter in Virginia. Blue Ridge Regional Jail The child, who was less than 2 at the time, was too young to properly express the nightmare she was living through each time she was left in Webb’s care.

During a speedy trial, prosecutors presented hours of the surveillance footage, which showed Webb repeatedly neglecting or physically abusing the toddler — including shooting her with a toy gun while she cried, the outlet said.

On some days, the child would go up to 21 hours without food or water under Webb’s supervision. The child would also be left in her crib for up to nine hours, the outlet reported.

In other instances, Webb would snap at the toddler and curse her out, including calling her an “effing b—h,” or a “f–king b—h,” the outlet reported.

In the videos, Webb could be seen eating in front of the famished toddler or throwing out the food the parents prepared in advance. When the girl cried, Webb would start taunting or physically abusing her.

“When I saw the videos, I couldn’t believe it. Thank God we had the cameras,” the victim’s father told the outlet.

Despite the months-long abuse that the toddler endured, she never sustained visible injuries, and there were no medical reports indicating she suffered from malnutrition or developmental delays.

Even so, Bedford County Judge James Updike said that in his 47-year career, he’d never presided over a case where so much of the abuse was caught on camera. He condemned Webb’s misconduct as “a pattern of cruelty and neglect” before finding her guilty on all counts.

Webb was sentenced to 12 months in jail plus three years of probation Friday.
