With Danny and Evan Awards exclusive ‘Next Gen NYC’ star Shai Fruchter calls out Kyle Cooke over Ava Dash hookup at 2026 VRT Awards By Samantha Nungesser Published Oct. 8, 2026, 3:24 p.m. ET Shai Fruchter and Ava Dash are no more.
The “Next Gen NYC” star confirmed that he’s no longer seeing Dash when “Virtual Reali-Tea” hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real pressed him for more information during Tuesday night’s 2026 VRT Awards, sponsored by Tri-State Cadillac, CoverGirl, Philo and Kahlúa.
“Have we been having date nights with Ava?” Murphy asked, to which Fruchter replied, “Nope.”
Want to watch from home? Philo is the exclusive streaming partner for the 2026 VRT Awards, and the only place you’ll find the full show this year. The best part? It’s free to watch on Philo’s ad-supported platform starting Oct. 9. Plus, you can catch up on last year’s awards now on Philo.com/VRTs.
As for whether he wants to have date nights with the model, Fruchter said, “Not right now.”
“Ask Kyle,” he quipped, referring to Dash’s kiss with “Summer House” star Kyle Cooke, who was also present at the gala-style event, and took home the VRT Award for “Hot-Tea of the Year.”
“Next Gen NYC” Season 2 brought forth an unexpected romance between Fruchter and Dash.
During the Season 2 reunion, the pair revealed that they had “hooked up” on an un-filmed cast trip to the Bahamas. However, Dash also confirmed that she had “[shared] a kiss” with Cooke in the Hamptons over the summer, describing the moment as a “cheeky little music festival kiss.”
Fruchter and Dash spoke about their short-lived romance at the reunion, sharing that there was “a lot of miscommunication” that prompted them to call it quits.
Still, at the time, Dash seemed open to rekindling her relationship with Fruchter in the future.

“I think Shai knows that if he wants to ask me on a date and plan it, then I’ll say yes and we can go do that,” she said. “But until then, I’m not just going to say, ‘Hey, let’s hang out.’”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Fruchter shares the same sentiments.
When chatting with Murphy and Real at the VRT Awards, Fruchter’s co-star Ariana Biermann chimed in to note that he has “plenty of options” as far as romantic prospects.
In fact, Fruchter confirmed that he is currently “seeing someone,” though he didn’t name names.
The fashion lover attended the VRT Awards with co-stars Biermann, Liam Obergfoll and Rowan Henchy.
Just as he and Dash are keeping things friendly, Biermann told Page Six on the red carpet that she and Obergfoll are also “not dating,” despite cozying up to one another throughout the evening.
The first two seasons of “Next Gen NYC” are currently streaming on Peacock.
