Police believe 28-year-old jobless suspect recruited by a syndicate to manage storage and deliveries to buyers
1-MIN READ1-MIN ListenNg Kang-chungPublished: 4:38pm, 15 Mar 2026Hong Kong police seized HK$20 million (US$2.55 million) worth of suspected cocaine in a village house in Sha Tin and arrested a 28-year-old man in an anti-drug trafficking operation on Saturday.
Senior Inspector Conrad Chan Yuen-fun, of the police narcotics bureau’s operation division, said on Sunday that the raid stopped the drugs from reaching the market.
The operation followed an investigation revealing the house in Sha Tin was being used to store illicit drugs, Chan said at a briefing on Sunday.
“Officers lay in wait outside the premises in the small hours [of Saturday], intercepting a suspicious man and found on him three packets of suspected cocaine,” Chan said.
“The man was escorted to his home where officers found another 24 packs of suspected cocaine, about 1kg each. We believe the village house was used for drug storage.”
Police estimated the haul’s street value at HK$20 million.
