Investing.com-- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co's (TW:2330) third-quarter revenue topped market expectations as surging demand for artificial intelligence chips continued to fuel growth at the world's largest contract chipmaker.

Third-quarter revenue reached about NT$1.49 trillion ($46.7 billion), according to calculations, up 50% from a year earlier and exceeding the NT$1.46 trillion estimate from analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
September revenue jumped 55% year on year to NT$511.86 billion, TSMC said on Thursday. The figure was down 0.6% from August.

Taipei-listed shares of the company fell more than 1% to NT$2,555.0 by 05:45 GMT.
The results underscore continued strength in demand for advanced chips used in AI accelerators and data centers, benefiting TSMC customers including Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).
TSMC's revenue for the first nine months of 2026 rose 41.1% year on year to NT$3.90 trillion, the company said.
TSMC, which dominates production of the most advanced chips, has been expanding capacity to meet surging AI-related demand. The company is also investing heavily overseas, including in the United States, as governments seek to strengthen domestic semiconductor supply chains.
