Make California Post a Preferred Source Los Angeles Lakers center Walker Kessler had a busy offseason.
For one, he signed a signed a four-year, $140 million contract with Los Angeles via a sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz in July. He also got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Abbie Stockard (who was the Miss America 2025 winner) that same month.
While Kessler has been preparing for his first season with the Lakers, Stockard has been in Alabama, wrapping up a major chapter in her own life.
Stockard noted this with an Instagram post on Tuesday that was captioned, “Today was my final day of class in nursing school!! From my first day 3 years ago, to my last day today, and all the days in between, I’m officially moved out of Auburn and starting my preceptorship! I could not be more grateful to have finally made it to this moment 🥹.”
The post showed her posing next to a sign of Auburn’s Nursing Building.
It looked like Stockard had plenty of people to celebrate with. But Kessler wasn’t present in the photos, which isn’t surprising since he has a season to get ready for.
Stockard didn’t mention where her preceptorship (nursing’s version of an apprenticeship) is taking place. Perhaps it’s in Los Angeles, so that she can be close to Kessler during his first campaign in the purple and gold.
