Boy, 6, heroically protected younger sister during psycho mom’s stabbing rampage: grandmother

Make New York Post a Preferred Source A brave 6-year-old boy put himself in the middle of a brutal knife attack by his mother to save his little sister’s life, his grandmother said.

Jan Marie Mull, 59, said her grandson Dawson, 6, suffered the worst of the attack allegedly committed by his mother Taylor Gosnell, 35, because the noble youngster jumped in to protect his sister Hazel, 3, the US Sun reported.

“The only thing I can visualize why Dawson had more injuries than Hazel was Dawson was trying to protect Hazel,” the grandma told the outlet.

Gosnell allegedly stabbed her two kids nearly 50 times during the unhinged rampage in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Sept. 26, cops said.

The two suffered brutal injuries, including “lacerations so deep they cut to the bone,” but are in stable condition, the solicitor’s office said in bond court, according to WCBD News 2.

Dawson received the worst of the injuries, according to authorities and his grandmother, who said medical experts.

“The medicine keeps him knocked out. They are looking at amputation,” Mull told the US Sun.

Mull, whose deceased son Blake is Dawson’s father, said she was “floored” when she heard what happened to her two grandchildren.

“I couldn’t breathe. Honest to God, I could not breathe. I was freaking floored,” Mull said.

Cops discovered the kids alone and covered in blood only because Dawson had called his grandmother to complain that he was hungry, leading to a wellness check, local outlets reported.

Investigators said that Gosnell returned home shortly after they arrived and appeared to be distressed.

When she was taken to an ambulance for a mental health evaluation, she attempted to flee and had to be handcuffed to a stretcher, according to the solicitor’s office.

The grandmother said that the news of the attack shocked her, as she’d “never known [Taylor] to beat or abuse these kids” and never saw “[n]o bruises, nothing. I don’t know what happened.”

But Mull said she wasn’t surprised that Dawson would step in to save his sister.

“Dawson’s got that kind of love for everybody. He takes after my son in that department. I think he was just probably trying to protect her,” she said.

Gosnell is currently being held without bond. She will appear in court on Nov. 12.
