Online brokerage Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: $HOOD) has added $25 million U.S. of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) to its balance sheet.
The company, which offers stock and crypto trading through a popular app, said it added Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet to demonstrate that it cares about the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Robinhood is one of several U.S. companies that is holding Bitcoin as a treasury asset. By some estimates, there are now 170 companies worldwide that have BTC on their balance sheet.

Other corporate holders of Bitcoin include electric vehicle maker Tesla (NASDAQ: $TSLA) and financial technology company Block (NYSE: $XYZ).
Strategy (NASDAQ: $MSTR), led by Chairman Michael Saylor, remains the biggest corporate owner of Bitcoin with holdings that are currently worth about $64 billion U.S.
Robinhood, which has over 28 million funded accounts worldwide, is not new to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
In July of this year, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer-2 network aimed at tokenized real‑world assets and decentralized finance.
HOOD stock has declined 25% over the last 12 months to trade at $108.50 U.S. per share.
