Futures are trading lower as today's oil and interest rates are higher. Baseball legend Babe Ruth was often credited with the saying, "Records are made to be broken," and Tuesday was one of those days for the stock market. For the second straight day, all major indices ended higher, with only the Russell 2000 trading lower, closing at 2,830, down 0.59%.

The big news was the S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq doing the heavy lifting, as both indices closed or printed intraday record highs. The S&P 500 finished the session at 7,818, up 0.58% and an all-time close, while the Nasdaq hit an intraday all-time high of 27,639 and ultimately closed at 27,599, up 0.45%. Falling interest rates and stabilizing oil prices did the trick once again. A major power infrastructure deal between Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) and Constellation Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: CEG) to power data centers with nuclear energy was also a huge positive for stocks on Tuesday.

Lower yields across the Treasury yield curve fueled continued stock market strength, except for the one-month T-bill, which rose only slightly. The biggest buying was in the belly of the curve, from the 2-year to the 10-year note, which finished the session at 5.28%. With the Bond vigilantes pushing rates higher, much of the Fed's work has been done, and there is a good chance of no hike this month, and perhaps not another until the end of the year or early 2027.

While oil prices moved modestly higher Tuesday, gains were light, as was trading volume, as Strait of Hormuz traffic continues to grow. Price plunged early as rising supplies and inventories, plus the G7 release of 100 million barrels, spurred selling, but buyers returned late in the session to produce small gains. When the dust settled, Brent Crude closed at $101, while West Texas Intermediate was last seen at $ 89.91, up 0.54%. Natural gas closed the day at $ 3.12, up 1.57%.

Many successful investors eventually reach the same moment. The saving is done, the portfolio is built, and the question quietly changes from how much can I grow this to how much can I take out? Get that second question wrong and decades of good investing can come apart in a handful of years.

The precious metals complex had a solid day Tuesday as more investors are sensing the possibility of no rate cuts until the end of the year, and continued central bank buying provided a solid tailwind for the sector. By the close, Gold was last seen at $4,163, up 0.57%, while Silver ended the trading day at $61.23, up 0.50%.

Cryptocurrency prices traded higher overall on Tuesday, recovering from early losses as optimism from a record-breaking stock market spilled over into digital assets. Bitcoin repeatedly traded above the $86,000 mark throughout the day. Positive momentum was heavily driven by a new U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulatory proposal that seeks to create a unified federal framework for crypto leverage trading, offering an alternative to state-by-state licensing. Bullish momentum was heavily supported by a new U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulatory proposal. According to Reuters, the plan aims to establish a unified federal framework for crypto leverage trading, providing market participants with an alternative to navigating fragmented state-by-state licensing. At 8 AM EDT, Bitcoin was trading at $83,600, while Ethereum was quoted at $2,572, both down sharply over the last 24 hours.

It may be the least discussed and most consequential transition in personal finance, and plenty of otherwise careful investors walk into it with no real plan.
