Tech executives believe quantum computing will be the next artificial intelligence (AI), but finding the right quantum stock can be exhausting. Publicly traded quantum companies are burning through cash, creating a high-risk, high-reward atmosphere.

Quantum computing exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can mitigate risk by diversifying into multiple quantum stocks. The following three ETFs are among the top choices available.

Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 14x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

The Defiance Quantum ETF (NASDAQ: QTUM) has roughly tripled during the past five years and is up by more than 40% this year. The fund focuses on large-cap growth stocks and has a 0.4% expense ratio.

Global Unichip, a Taiwanese AI chipmaker that does not trade in U.S. financial markets, is the largest holding in the fund. This ETF has 86 holdings, with its top 10 holdings accounting for only 18% of total assets. That means a single position does not heavily weigh on the entire portfolio.

The fund holds many companies investing heavily in quantum, but that aren't pure quantum plays. For instance, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), and Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) are in this fund. None of these picks is a pure play like IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), but they are investing in quantum computing, so they are included.

A strong focus on AI stocks helps explain why this fund has outpaced the S&P 500 for multiple years despite operating under the quantum computing theme.

The Global X AI Semiconductor & Quantum ETF (NASDAQ: CHPX) makes it more obvious from its name that it is a hybrid fund. The fund is still new, with an inception date of Sept. 30, 2025, but a 105% year-to-date return has quickly put it on the map.

Micron (NASDAQ: MU), Taiwan Semiconductor (NYSE: TSM), and Nvidia are the three largest positions, and these key AI companies account for roughly a third of the entire fund. They are primed to benefit from quantum computing, but these three stocks are each valued at more than $1 trillion, and the fund is filled with megacaps.

It's still mostly a semiconductor fund that has a hint of quantum. Almost three-quarters of the fund's assets are in large-cap growth stocks, and a tiny position is in small-cap growth stocks. The major developments investors should monitor include how much hyperscalers intend to spend on AI, chip supply updates, and whether multi-year customer agreements are still being signed between tech giants and chipmakers. It is the most costly of the three with a 0.5% expense ratio.

The WisdomTree Quantum Computing Fund (NYSEMKT: WQTM) is one of the few pure-play quantum ETFs. It carries a 0.45% expense ratio and is up by roughly 32% year-to-date. It has been a volatile fund, which aligns with other quantum computing stocks.

Quantum enthusiasts may be encouraged to see that IonQ is the fund's top holding. It also holds large-cap tech stocks, but the next largest two holdings -- Quantinuum (NASDAQ: QNT) and Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI) -- show that it prioritizes pure quantum picks at the top.

Although investors have done better with funds like the Global X AI Semiconductor & Quantum ETF so far, the WisdomTree product is best positioned for quantum breakthroughs. The main thesis for this fund is that the small quantum companies that are burning cash right now will eventually commercialize, become profitable, and reach megacap valuations.

The other funds focus on large-cap tech giants that already have thriving businesses and treat quantum as a valuable future side piece rather than as the make-or-break piece of their entire thesis.

Although the fund has almost 50 equity holdings, almost half of its assets are allocated to the top 10 stocks. That bodes well for investors who want a pure-play quantum fund rather than one diversified across multiple tech opportunities.
