Google and Constellation Energy announced a 20-year strategic clean energy collaboration to bring nearly 900 megawatts of nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid.

The PJM Interconnection regional power grid spans the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Midwest, serving Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Columbus.

Constellation (CEG) rose 12.2% on the news, trading at $300.40 at the time of writing. Just a month earlier, the stock was trading around $254. Google was flat on the day.

The 20-year agreement includes investments in "new equipment and technology" at 11 Constellation-owned nuclear units. It will help sustain about 4,400 existing jobs and create approximately 7,200 new construction jobs during the build-out. In total, Constellation plans to spend a reported $4.3 billion on "new investments."

Google is also continuing its work with Constellation through Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise as part of an "expanded five-year technology alliance." The companies aim to establish an "AI for energy blueprint" to accelerate capacity delivery, optimize asset dispatch, and protect critical infrastructure. They say AI will help reduce the costs of new infrastructure, improve performance, ensure enough power is generated to meet rising demand, and safeguard the energy grid they rely on.

Google isn't the only major tech company or hyperscaler partnered with Constellation. The company also has a 20-year agreement with Microsoft to restart Three Mile Island, a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) announced September 30 with Amazon/AWS, and a 20-year virtual PPA with Meta for 1,121 MW of power. The Amazon deal covers 690 MW from Calvert Cliffs, including 190 MW of added capacity, plus a related retail supply agreement for Amazon's operations across the 13-state PJM market, the same grid served by the Google deal.

Constellation is now partnered with some of the world's biggest names in tech and AI, making it a long-term energy bet.
