More than nine years after parting ways with Geno Smith, the Jets are bringing back their 2013 second-round pick to likely serve as the team’s starting quarterback next season.

The Jets acquired Smith from the Raiders, along with a seventh-round pick, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, with hopes the 35-year-old will provide a stronger bridge than Justin Fields did to the team’s next young franchise quarterback.

“If it proves to be a Match Made in Heaven Forbid, at least it’s an inexpensive one,” The Post’s Steve Serby writes in assessing the “desperation” trade.
