Make New York Post a Preferred Source Meaghan Seward, Angela Tricarico It’s October Prime Day!
You’ll be able to shop Prime Big Deal Days, including all of the best Prime Day Kindle deals from today, Oct. 6, through the end of the day tomorrow, Oct. 7. Every 2024 Kindle model is currently discounted.
Amazon did just release a new slate of Kindles, but only the previous generation is included in the Prime Day sale.
As someone who uses a 2024 model every single day, I’m here to tell you that a 2024 Kindle is still going to work just as well as a 2026 Kindle. As an avid reader myself, I’ve used nearly all of these devices, and if I haven’t, someone else on the Post Wanted team has.
Here at The Post, we don’t just diligently fact-check to call out fake news — we also relentlessly price-check to get you inflation-beating bargains you can trust. Before recommending a sale or purchase, our experienced bargain hunters put every “deal” through our price-checking gauntlet:
We’d add all of these to our own carts, which is how you know these are deals worth shopping.
There’s even a Kindle Unlimited Prime Day deal to get free books! When you shop for a new Kindle, you’ll get three months of Kindle Unlimited free to explore everything that the unlimited library has to offer.
Remember, you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of Prime Day deals, but you can sign up for 30 days free to enjoy all the benefits before committing to a paid membership.
Since this October Prime event is shorter than the four-day one in the summer, you have less time to add things to your cart and press the buy button — so we’d recommend doing that ASAP.
The basic Kindle is its lightest and most compact, making it perfect to take anywhere and everywhere. It comes with a brighter front light (25% brighter at max setting than the previous Kindle generation), dark mode and the same glare-free matte display you know and love.
Screen size: 7 inches | Colors: Black, Matcha | Storage: 16 GB | Battery life: Up to 6 weeks
The Kindle Paperwhite is one of the best e-readers on the market. Of all the ones I’ve tried, it’s the one I recommend to most people. With a high contrast ratio and 25% faster page turns, it’s the fastest Kindle Paperwhite ever. It’s still waterproof and allows users to customize not just screen brightness, but also warmth.
Commerce Senior Strategist, Audience Optimization & Discovery Meaghan Seward is a huge fan of the Kindle Paperwhite.
“My Kindle has been a game-changer for getting back into reading,” she said. “The lightweight and ultra-packable Paperwhite is so easy to take with me while commuting or traveling. I love that I’ve been able to reduce my phone screen time, reach my reading goals and easily find great new titles and authors through Kindle Unlimited.”
Screen size: 7 inches | Colors: Black, Raspberry, Jade | Storage: 16 GB | Battery life: Up to 12 weeks
The auto-adjusting front light that adapts to your surroundings, getting brighter when you’re in sunlight and darker as the night goes on, is the real standout feature of the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. It also features a metallic finish instead of a matte one, plus expanded storage and wireless charging capabilities. It’s a small upgrade that makes a huge difference.
Screen size: 7 inches | Colors: Metallic Black, Metallic Raspberry, Metallic Jade | Storage: 32 GB | Battery life: Up to 12 weeks
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is the game changer and the one I take everywhere with me. It has an upgraded 7-inch screen with 300 ppi resolution in black and white and 150 ppi resolution in color. The matte, anti-glare screen is perfect for reading in any environment, enhanced by the auto-adjusting front light that changes the screen brightness based on your surroundings.
It’s wonderful for graphic novel and comic readers, and I’ve even found that the highlight feature in different colors is extremely useful (I use it when I’m reading nonfiction about film to highlight standout quotes in one color and film titles in another).
Screen size: 7 inches | Colors: Black | Storage: 16 GB | Battery life: Up to 8 weeks
All Kindles are good Kindles, but this supersized one is a fave of Commerce Reporter Nishka Dhawan’s. On the Kindle Scribe, she said, “I used this as a journal while I was dealing with my anxiety disorder. It was calming to have a place where I could read and write at the same time.”
Screen size: 11 inches | Colors: Graphite | Storage: 32 GB, 64 GB | Battery life: Up to 12 weeks
