Make California Post a Preferred Source After the Rams overcame a two-score deficit on the road against the Eagles on Sunday, multiple videos emerged of the Los Angeles staff interacting with the Philadelphia fans from the coaches’ booth.
As Eagles fanatics were giving the coaches the middle finger following a go-ahead touchdown by Kyren Williams with 1:45 left in the fourth quarter, the LA coaches were seen banging on the glass — resulting in the fans throwing water bottles at them.
None of the coaches or fans were harmed in the altercation. ESPN’s Sara Barshop reported that head coach Sean McVay has talked to his assistants and said, “We’ll be better in those situations.”
McVay is all too familiar with the Philadelphia faithful, as he used to coach against them at Lincoln Financial Field once a year as an assistant coach and eventual offensive coordinator when he was with Washington from 2010-2016.
While he didn’t disclose where it happened, McVay said that he’s been in a similar situation in the past when he was calling plays from the booth as a coordinator.
“You get excited and emotional,” he said.
“We’ll learn from that,” McVay added. “We’ll feel better. Those fans are really into it, but I know that we want to make sure that we’re representing the class and just the calm steadiness that we want to have while also being emotionally into it. And there’s ways that we can have that reflected.”
Barshop added that McVay said he and his coordinators talked about it and said it won’t be “an issue moving forward.”
