California’s Orange County hit by 3.5-magnitude earthquake on Monday afternoon

Make California Post a Preferred Source A 3.5 magnitude earthquake has shaken parts of Southern California Monday afternoon, striking in the Pacific Ocean off the Orange County coast and felt as far as San Diego.

The quake hit at around 1:20 p.m. The epicenter was about 18 miles southwest of Dana Point and roughly 5 miles below the surface.

Residents reported light shaking across a wide area, including Laguna Niguel, San Clemente, San Diego, El Cajon and Lynwood.

A smaller 2.8-magnitude aftershock followed the initial quake.
