Make California Post a Preferred Source A group of armed cops stormed a movie theater in San Jose Saturday night, leaving the patrons stunned.
The terrifying moment was captured by a moviegoer on a video as San Jose Police Department officials pointed a gun with a tactical light toward the audience.
Police were responding to reports of a man carrying a firearm inside AMC Saratoga 14 in West San Jose around 8 p.m. on Oct 3. The movie stopped halfway and the house lights went on when police entered theater No. 13.
One officer can be heard on the video directing the audience to raise their hands. “Sorry to interrupt. Put your hands up real quick, both hands. Stand up,” the officer said.
According to the cops, the suspect had long red hair and was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts. The officer then says, “Sorry for the inconvenience. Walk towards us over here. Keep your hands up.”
It is likely that the officer was addressing the suspect and directing him to walk toward the police officers for questioning.
Audience members were confused and kept saying, “What,” as a perplexed reaction to the officer’s statements.
Lauren, who was inside the theater when cops barged in, said the theater was full with people when cops came in. “It was scary to see a gun that big right in front of me,” she told NBC Bay Area.
“There were six cops. One of them was pointing a huge gun at the back of the room and they told the guy in the back right to stand up and put his hands above his head,” Lauren added.
Aditya Gupta, another moviegoer who watched the whole incident unfold inside the theater, said he was stunned to see the cops.
“The girl who was sitting on my right, she ducked, and I realized after the fact that I should’ve done the same. I don’t think it registered to me that there was a real officer with a real assault rifle-looking thing,” he told the news outlet.
Both Lauren and Gupta left the theater, fearing a shootout might break out.
Officers located a individual inside the theater matching the description of the subject reported to have a firearm. However, they did not find any firearm on the suspect or in the nearby vicinity, KRON 4 reported.
