Though the New York Jets ended an abysmal interception drought on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the defense failed to keep their opponents at bay and the offense was nowhere to be found.

Chicago won 23-12 behind Kyle Monangai’s 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Tyson Bagent, who started for the injured Caleb Williams, was 25-of-34 with 268 passing yards and an interception. The Bears outgained the Jets 492-157.

To add insult to injury, Bears linebacker Devin Bush said it was too easy.

"It’s fun, man. We’ve got to get ourselves into more situations like that so we can get the offense the ball as much as possible," he said, via the New York Post. "As you can see, they’re capable of doing a lot of great things. Holding the ball for what was it, 42 minutes? That is kind of wild.

"Probably one of the easiest NFL games I have played in. I’m not sore at all. So it was great."

"I got bored. I got bored a couple of times. I had to stay warm just in case. I know we had a couple sudden change moments that I felt like got the defense going," he said.

As crazy as that sounds, the Bears held the ball for 42 minutes and 15 seconds. The Jets only had the ball for 17 minutes and 15 seconds. Chicago ran 89 plays to New York’s 32.

Bush, Dayo Odeyingbo and Austin Booker each had a sack.

"I thought those guys all stood out," Bears head coach Ben Johnson said. "It was another one of those days where it’s hard to single out any particular guy. I just thought everyone played really good football on that side."

Jets quarterback Geno Smith acknowledged the lack of execution for his team, saying the offense can do a better job of playing complementary football.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn was also stunned with the play disparity.

"We have to do a better job of complementing each other and that did not show up today at all," Aaron Glenn said. "When you have the discrepancy of 89 plays and 32 plays, it’s something we have to look at and something we have to continue to work on. That’s the only thing we can do is continue to work."

At least New York’s defense can hang its hat on one thing.

Minkah Fitzpatrick intercepted a Bagent pass in the first half, ending the team’s 20-game drought without an interception.

Still, there’s a lot of work to be done. It seems Chicago is still on the rise even without its starting quarterback.
