REUTERS/Nathan Howard Conservative: GOP’s Missing Midterm Agenda Voters seem “uninterested in returning Republicans to control the House and Senate,” warns The Wall Street Journal’s Kim Strassel, pushing President Trump to offer goals he’s “passionate about completing” — a program “that requires a legislative majority.”
This “agenda deficit” defines the “GOP’s midterm problem, as evidenced by enthusiasm numbers.”
Trump needs to “roll out a set of bold final promises” centered on making America “the premier global destination for building and growing business,” explaining we can slash government “fraud and waste” and “create a modernized immigration system that gives the US the power and flexibility to fill labor needs legally.”
To win, “you can’t have a campaign without an agenda.”
The Committee to Protect Journalists “conducted a months-long review meant to identify and remove confirmed” Hamas militants “from its widely cited database” of alleged journalists killed in Gaza, yet “more than half the names” remaining still “have connections to terrorist groups,” fumes The Washington Free Beacon’s Adam Credo.
Wake up! Hamas and allied terror groups have a “well-documented practice of installing their operatives as journalists” to “take advantage of longstanding conventions to avoid killing journalists during war.”
Worse, CPJ’s listings haven’t even “adhered to its own permissive definition of who qualifies as a journalist.”
One smoking gun: Dozens of “names still included on CPJ’s list are terrorists who were identified as such by ‘martyr notices’ issued by their respective terror outfits.”
Don’t miss “far more extreme conduct” of Hannah Gann, “the Philadelphia schoolteacher recently outed” as a fake Palestinian: She’s “part of the vast network of dedicated teacher-activists in Philadelphia public schools misusing their classrooms to encourage extreme political activism,” thunders Mika Hackner at City Journal.
The network involves students “in a group that endorses violence as a means of political action,” and relentlessly paints Israel “as a settler-colonial, fundamentally racist, oppressive, and genocidal entity.”
And beyond this ring of radical teachers is “a school district that has failed to hold them accountable.”
An “intelligence loose in the world that has no respect for humanity” also “seeks to manipulate us, pit us against one another, and harness us to its own purposes, and it is certain it can run your life better than you can” — but it’s not AI, notes Richard Stern at National Review: It’s the thinking of “every socialist and collectivist who has ever lived, from Karl Marx to Bernie Sanders.”
Letting government “enforce monopoly” control of the new tech will only “threaten liberty” and “stifle innovation.”
If the “innovators and entrepreneurs” who created it “couldn’t build a perfect AI sandbox,” why think the “regulators who gave us Covid lockdowns and cars that shut off at red lights do better?”
The risk of “a rogue AI agent doing serious damage” is far higher if we “turn over control of the technology to bureaucrats and a few favored business executives.”
The Democratic Party “is depending on voters to have the memory of a goldfish” as it campaigns on “affordability and abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” snarks The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha, “hoping they cannot recall how we got high prices and rampant illegal immigration in the first place.”
Four years ago the public tilted Republican because Dems had inflation headed to 9% and border-hopping at historic highs; now inflation is 3% and the border’s secure.
“Democrats’ plan for bringing down prices this time around” seems to mean either “taxing ‘millionaires and billionaires’,” or new federal spending, i.e., “throw money at the problem.”
More “unintentional comedy” comes from Dems’ “wanting to abolish ICE, which is a wink and a nod back to the days of open borders and granting amnesty to anyone coming into the country illegally.”
“Giving Democrats back the levers of power is like handing matches back to an arsonist.”
