Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. and wife expecting first child together: ‘Upgraded’

Make New York Post a Preferred Source Michael Penix Jr. and his wife have one on the way.

The Falcons quarterback and his wife, Olivia, announced on social media that they are expecting their first child together.

The couple revealed the news through a heartwarming video posted to Instagram on Saturday, which showed the two having a picnic together that featured ultrasounds of their unborn child.

View this post on Instagram “Upgraded to mom and dad,” the video’s caption read.

After getting engaged just days after Penix’s first career NFL start in 2024, the couple officially tied the knot at a Georgia resort in May.

The two met while Penix was playing football at the University of Washington, with Olivia herself playing soccer at the University of Nevada, Reno, before graduating in 2022.

The big news comes just after Penix wrapped up his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered last season.

Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski praised Penix’s return to the gridiron, noting all the hard work the signal-caller put into the rehab for his body.

“It’s not easy to rehab from injuries,” Stefanski told reporters, according to ESPN. “That’s a tough thing to do when he’s putting himself through the extra workouts in the weight room, the extra treatments in the training room.

The couple announced the news in a joint post on Instagram. Credit: Instagram “All those times that he’s out on the field running and no one was watching. It’s just him and the trainers and the medical staff. So proud of all of that. I got to witness it, and this, tonight, is something you can build on.”

Penix, however, said the season is still early, and there is always room for improvement.

“We got a long season to go,” Penix said. “That game was far from perfect, and that’s what we’re striving for each and every day.

“So, obviously we’re going to go back and look at the film, find things that we can do better.”
