Thanks to two nine-run outings by the Yankees, they swept the Red Sox in the Wild Card series to move on to the ALDS. In addition to scoring 18 runs, they held the Red Sox to just two across both.
Now, they’ll meet a familiar face in the ALDS: the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees’ AL East rival finished the regular season with the best record in the American League and won their division.
Yankees captain Aaron Judge was once again left off the official roster as the team enters the second round of playoffs. After sustaining a calf injury over two weeks ago, Judge he started a running progression on Tuesday, shortly before Game 1 against the Red Sox, but as of yesterday, he had yet to run the bases.
