Horrific moment shots ring out inside packed LA nightclub near university campus with two dead

Make California Post a Preferred Source Terrifying video captured the moment gunfire erupted inside a packed Los Angeles nightclub near a college campus, sending partygoers scrambling for their lives as two young people were fatally shot.

The chilling footage, obtained by The California Post, shows clubbers dancing to rap music under purple lights when two deafening gunshots suddenly ring out.

The party atmosphere instantly turns to pandemonium as the terrified audience bolts for the exits, rushing out of the crowded venue in a desperate scramble.

Two partygoers, a man and a woman between the ages of 18 and 25, were killed in the Friday night shooting at Artist Lounge, the Los Angeles Police Department told The Post.

The nightclub is located in the University Plaza shopping center near California State University, Northridge, in the San Fernando Valley.

Officers were already at the scene responding to complaints about the loud party when the gunshots rang out.

Cops rushed inside and found the two young victims dead at the scene. Neither was conscious or breathing.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male but released no further details.

A witness told KTLA the gunman appeared to target two people before accidentally striking another victim.

“It all happened so fast,” the witness said. “This guy pulls out a gun from his waist and aims at one person – boom – then he turned around to get another guy, but he totally missed and got someone else in the back.”

In the chaotic aftermath, multiple partygoers were seen fleeing the building in a panic as police swarmed the shopping plaza.

Dozens of people were detained outside the complex for reasons that remain unclear, though officers may have been trying to identify the shooter.

Aerial footage from KABC showed handcuffed individuals being questioned by police inside a sprawling crime scene that stretched across several businesses in the shopping center.

No arrests had been announced as of the latest update.

The LAPD’s investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing.

California State University, Northridge, a public university in LA’s San Fernando Valley, has more than 35,000 students enrolled.
