Gypsy Rose Blanchard detailed Ken Urker relationship ‘challenges,’ couples therapy before his death

Make Page Six a Preferred Source Gypsy Rose Blanchard revealed she and fiancé Ken Urker “had challenges that would break many couples” about a year before his heartbreaking death.

The pair, notably, attended couples therapy during Season 2 of “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up” and later discussed that experience in a March 2025 interview with People.

“I like it because it gives an unbiased opinion,” she explained at the time. “Because you don’t want to go to your family all the time to talk about the bad stuff. You never want to have anybody going, ‘Oh, I think…’ You don’t want their opinions to be changed or affected or a bias or anything.”

The reality star said it was “nice for [them] to have someone in the middle” to hear their opinions and sides, noting they definitely had aspects of their relationship they needed to “improve.”

“We have been through more than most couples have and have had challenges that would break many couples,” she admitted. “But we still stand strong, and I don’t ever see that changing.”

Blanchard also told the outlet that her biggest goal she hoped to achieve with couples therapy was “to have open communication.”

“I hope that we can get even more knowledge and let down our walls, because I’ve built walls over many years, and I think everybody has a set of walls that they put up. So I think it would be wonderful for us to bring those down and be the most vulnerable that we’ve ever been with each other. That would be my goal.”

As Page Six previously reported, Urker was found dead in his bed at his Raceland, Louisiana, home by a family member Thursday — on his 34th birthday.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating Urker’s death. However, Blanchard suspects he died of an overdose, noting he was being severely cyberbullied prior to his passing.

“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” she told People. “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”

Blanchard also told TMZ a substance was found — even though she had never seen Urker previously take drugs.

Urker’s sister, Autumn, also alleged in a tearful TikTok Live that her brother did not die “of natural causes.”

The couple shared 1-year-old daughter Aurora Raina. They welcomed their baby girl in December 2024.

They started their relationship as pen pals in 2017, while she was imprisoned for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

The two got engaged in October 2018 after Urker popped the question, just one year after meeting Blanchard, but later broke up and Blanchard wed Ryan Anderson in July 2022 while still behind bars.

She and Anderson divorced in 2024 before she rekindled her romance with Urker.
