Make Page Six a Preferred Source Tony Romo is out at CBS Sports after his July arrest for operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI), Page Six can confirm.
The retired Dallas Cowboys player’s rep released a statement Friday about how “proud” Romo is of his nine years with the network.
“I approached my role as a game analyst the way I’ve approached everything in my life — with a desire to win and be the best that I can be,” the analyst wrote. “I’m going to use this time to take a break, something I’ve never done before.”
Romo noted that “before moving on to the next opportunity,” he plans to focus on his “health and family.”
The ex-athlete concluded, “I am grateful for my time with CBS Sports and for the continued support of my family and friends, as well as the NFL community and fans.”
Romo was placed on leave “until further notice” after being detained in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, over the summer.

The former quarterback, however, teased a possible return to his post in August.
At the time, Romo’s expressed to TMZ via his spokesperson that he had been “communicating with CBS about next steps.”
The rep added that Romo “accept[ed] full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved.”
Romo was found guilty of the OWI charge, which he pleaded no contest to, the following month — while previous unsafe passing on right and possession of open intoxicants charges were dismissed.
As a result, Romo was forbidden from driving for six months and ordered to have an ignition interlock device be installed on any car registered to him.
He, additionally, was ordered to complete the Alcohol Assessment Program and pay $784 for court costs, as well as a $50 fine.
