Coven Academy premieres tonight, Oct. 1, with four back-to-back episodes beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The series, which was originally planned to air on Disney Channel, will debut instead on Freeform.

Coven Academy comes from creator Tim Federle (best known for High School Muscial: The Musical: The Series) and stars Malina Weissman (A Series of Unfortunate Events), Malachi Barton (Camp Rock 3, Zombies franchise) and Tiffani Thiessen (Saved by the Bell).

Per Disney, “Coven Academy follows a trio of teenage witches-in-training who are bound by destiny to guard their city against dangerous, ancient forces.”

“Between unraveling dark secrets, mastering volatile magic, and facing off against distractingly cute rivals, they must also navigate the heartbreaks and deep bonds that come with growing up,” the logline continues.

Weissman plays one-third of the trio alongside Ora Duplass and newcomer Jordan Leftwitch. Ahead of the season Duplass told DECIDER that this core trio “really balances each other out in this really beautiful way.”

“Casting was long to try and find these three characters,” she continued. “So we didn’t have to try hard to click, as well, because that magic was already kind of there. We formed something so beautiful onscreen, but I think offscreen, as well, was just really beautiful.”

The series also features Casper star Devon Sawa as Mr. Cole. He stopped by the DECIDER studio ahead of the series premiere as well, and told us that by working with a cast of younger actors, he became “more aware” of his behavior and set out to be “a good example.”

Here’s what you need to know about Coven Academy, including when and where to watch it.

The first four episodes of Coven Academy come out at 8 p.m. ET tonight, Oct. 1, on Freeform.

No. Despite the name, Freeform is not free and you’ll need a cable subscription to watch the channel.

The only way to watch Freeform live without a cable subscription is by using a live TV streaming service. Our favorite is DIRECTV, which comes with a five-day free trial before payment begins.

DIRECTV offers a number of flexible subscription options, including Genre Packs, so you can best choose which streaming plans fit your needs and budget. Packs and plans, including Freeform, start at $42.99/month.

If you don’t want to watch Coven Academy live and can wait until tomorrow, the entire series will drop on Disney+. Disney+ offers a number of subscription options, so you can find the one that works for you. With ads, a subscription costs $12.49/month; without ads, it’s $21.49/month.

While the whole series will drop on streaming tomorrow, Coven Academy will continue to air weekly on Freeform as well. Here’s when you can expect to see new episodes airing live (all times below are ET).
