Make Page Six a Preferred Source Amanda Peet noticed something “weird” with her body months before she was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall.
“I was in my closet, I was probably putting something on and I felt a weird — it just didn’t feel like normal skin — but it wasn’t the frozen pea that everybody talks about,” the “Whole Nine Yards” actress revealed to Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show Thursday.
“I went and I even got an MRI and then they sent me away,” she added.
“So I thought I had a clean bill of health, but they were actually watching it.”
Peet, 54, said that when she went in for a routine scan six months later, her doctor told her they noticed something concerning on her ultrasound.
After testing was done, Peet’s doctor called her to let her know she had lobular cancer, the second most common type of breast cancer.
“I’ll never forget that moment,” she recalled.
The “Your Friends & Neighbors” star said she originally “had such an old-fashioned notion about breast cancer.”

“This is like a slow drip of information doctors are gathering — genomic, genetic information … so they can get a full picture of what the best treatment would be,” she shared.
“I had no idea it was going to take so long. So if you’re an anxious person, it’s your basic nightmare,” Peet continued.
The actress urged people to “stay off the internet” if they have been diagnosed with cancer to avoid going down rabbit holes of possible misinformation.
However, Peet said she had an “advantage” because her sister and brother-in-law are both doctors.
“I’ve been taught not to take my medical advice from influencers or TikTok or anybody else,” she shared.
In March, Peet revealed in a New Yorker article that she had been diagnosed with cancer while dealing with her divorced parents being in hospice care “on opposite coasts.”
A few days later, the “2012” star exclusively gave Page Six an update on her health, saying she was “doing great.”
Peet received her first clear, cancer-free scan in mid-January after undergoing treatment.
The “Something’s Gotta Give” actress shares two daughters and one son with husband David Benioff.
