Italian Wine Week Comes to New York City By Sam Shoyer Published Oct. 1, 2026, 12:02 a.m. ET Photo courtesy of Italian Trade Agency Sponsored by: Mark your calendars! From October 12 through October 25, New York City is hosting the inaugural Italian Wine Week. Promoted by the Italian Trade Agency to celebrate the extraordinary tastes of Italy, this two-week citywide initiative is partnering with more than 100 top neighborhood retailers to showcase and spotlight a broad range of Italian wines.
This event coincides with the arrival of Vinitaly.USA, the premier Italian wine trade exhibition, which brings hundreds of Italian wineries and industry professionals to New York City on October 26-27 at Pier 36. For those two days, Manhattan will become a central hub of Italian wine commerce and trade. While the main exhibition is tailored exclusively for industry professionals, Italian Wine Week extends that momentum directly to consumer shelves.
Discover the Diversity of Italian Wine
Photo courtesy of Italian Trade Agency Wine in Italy is an essential, daily part of an Italian meal, crafted specifically to complement the food on the table. This connection is driven by remarkable diversity, with Italy being home to hundreds of indigenous grape varieties cultivated across 20 regions.
Regional variety also ensures an accessible entry point for every palate and budget. Consumers can find mineral-driven whites from the Northern region of Alto Adige, bold Nebbiolos out of Piedmont, earthy Sangioveses from Tuscan hills, and volcanic reds grown in the dark soil of Mt. Etna in Sicily.
Each bottle offers a direct connection to a specific hillside, soil type, and family history, making Italian Wine Week the perfect occasion to branch out into new varieties and pick up a bottle you haven’t tried before.

Walk into a participating wine shop during the two weeks, and you will find shelves set up to highlight bottles from across Italy, featuring lesser-known grapes and hidden gems. Whether you need a crisp white wine for aperitivo or a bold red for a dinner party, local shop owners will have a wide range of styles and price points to help you find your next favorite bottle.
To plan your visits, explore the official interactive retailer map. Search by neighborhood or ZIP code to identify participating local stores and see how each of them is marking this inaugural occasion between October 12 and October 25.
