Tom Cruise applauded Prince William’s “smart choice” to marry Kate Middleton.
At the Los Angeles premiere of Cruise’s new movie, “Digger,” on Monday, the “Top Gun” star recalled his pleasant interactions with the Prince and Princess of Wales at the movie’s world premiere in London last week.
“She’s got a great sense, incredible sense of humor,” the actor told “Extra” of Middleton.
“I mean, obviously very intelligent and fun … they’re so charismatic and so elegant; that dress that she was wearing? Stunning, absolutely stunning,” he added, referring to the mom of three’s custom purple long-sleeved Jenny Packham gown.
“William did well,” Cruise, 64, added with a wink. “Way to go. Smart choice.”
The “Mission: Impossible” star said it was “so fun” seeing the royal couple watch the film “be part of it.”

“I have so much respect for them, you know, they’re amazing people and how dedicated they are to their country and also … what they give to the world,” he said.
“They’re just beautiful people and fun, very funny,” Cruise gushed.
The action star mingled with William and Middleton, both 44, last Tuesday at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square.
Page Six obtained photos of the trio sharing laughs and chatting at the event.
Several other stars were in attendance, including Salma Hayek, David Beckham and his two youngest sons, Cruz Beckham and Romeo Beckham, Jodie Turner-Smith and many more.
William and Middleton tied the knot in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London.
The couple shares three kids: Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.
