Make New York Post a Preferred Source If they hadn’t already been answered, any questions about the Jets kicking situation were put to rest on Tuesday when the Jets signed Jason Sanders to the active roster and waived Blake Grupe.
Sanders was elevated from the practice squad in each of the first three weeks and is 5-for-6 on field goal tries this season, with his only miss a 54-yarder in the season opener.

By NFL rule, a player can be elevated from the practice squad a maximum of three times per season before a team must either sign him to the active 53-man roster or expose him to waivers.
Sanders’ elevation for Sunday’s game in Detroit was his third, which exhausted his maximum allotment of practice squad elevations.
Sanders failed to make the initial 53-man roster after a shaky preseason, leading the Jets to sign Grupe the week before the season opener.
Sanders was selected to play the opener and hasn’t relinquished the job since.

They also signed offensive linemen Nick Dawkins and Jimmy Morrissey to the practice squad. Both of those players play guard and center.
Those moves were necessitated when starting left guard Dylan Parham suffered a left knee injury in the Lions game Sunday.
