WASHINGTON — President Trump launched a new America.gov website, a one-stop shop for government agencies, that uses artificial intelligence to streamline the process for seeking federal services.
“Our goal is that anything you might need from the United States government will be accessible at your fingertips and very quickly at your command,” Trump said at the official launch event.
“We’re making it dramatically easier, faster, and more convenient to get what you need exactly when you need it.”
President Trump at the launch of America.gov JIM LO SCALZO/EPA/Shutterstock The new website is designed to unwind bureaucracy on a range of services, allowing Americans to use a single platform to perform a variety of government services, ranging from help on signing up for Social Security, renewing a passport or booking a campsite at a national park.
Its central feature is an AI chat bot designed to answer questions in a conversational style, projecting a helpful tone as it directs people through the maze of government bureaucracy.
Greeting visitors with “Hello America – Whatever you need from government, start here,” America.gov features a high-powered search capability to help Americans navigate government services.
The website will “make life better, easier, for normal Americans.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
He described how America.gov will, starting next year, let people fully apply for a passport online, including using a mobile phone to take and upload the required photo.
Additionally, within the next year, Americans can enroll in Medicare on America.gov, without being sent to other websites. More services will be rolled out onto America.gov as agencies integrate with it, the White House said.

Trump described the website as a preview of what’s possible with artificial intelligence and told people they don’t need to fear the new technology.
“We do not surrender to fears about what technologies will do to us,” he said.
Trump will also host a luncheon at the White House with a bevy of tech titans to discuss the rapidly advancing technology.
The group includes Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Advanced Micro Devices CEO Lisa Su and OpenAI President Greg Brockman.
