Make New York Post a Preferred Source A straphanger was killed in a freak accident when his backpack got caught in the subway door during rush hour Monday night — and he fell onto the tracks, according to police.
The unidentified man was exiting a northbound train at the Utica Avenue station in Brooklyn around 5:50 p.m. when witnesses said his bag got trapped in the doors as the train started to pull away.
He was dragged by the train and eventually fell between cars onto the tracks, police said.
First responders rushed to the subway station and declared the man dead at the scene.
The man was still not identified as of Tuesday morning.
