Make Page Six a Preferred Source Bebe Rexha revealed Taylor Swift “reached out” to her when designers refused to dress her for the 2019 Grammys because of her body type.
“I remember when I had the whole Grammys situation, and I couldn’t find a dress, and she had reached out to me because we’re the same age,” the “I’m Good (Blue)” songstress told E! News while walking the blue carpet at the MTV VMAs Sunday.
“And I thought that was really, really, really kind of her.”
“Like, nobody really reached out,” Rexha, now 37, explained, before walking back on her remark. “Some people did, you know? But for her, at such a high level, to kind of make me feel like I belonged, was really, really nice.”
The “Meant to Be” singer made headlines when she called out fashion designers for telling her she was “too big” to be dressed by them for the 2019 awards show.
“So, I finally get nominated at the Grammys, and it’s like, the coolest thing ever,” she said in an Instagram video at the time, referring to her nomination in the category of Best New Artist, which ultimately went to Dua Lipa.
“And a lot of times, artists will go and talk to designers, and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet.”
Rexha explained her team reached out to a lot of designers, saying, “And a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big. Literally, I’m too big.”
“If a size 6/8 is too big, then I don’t know what to tell you,” the “I’m a Mess” singer said.
“I don’t want to wear your f–king dresses. ‘Cause that’s crazy. You’re saying that all the women in the world that are size 8 and up are not beautiful and they cannot wear your dresses.”

Rexha turned heads when she arrived at the 2019 Grammys, wearing a Monsoori-designed red tiered tulle gown.
At the time, the “Me, Myself & I” singer gushed over the support she received from fellow celebrities, including Demi Lovato and Rita Ora, during an interview with E!’s Ryan Seacrest.
“It’s been amazing,” she said. “I didn’t expect it.”
Over the years, Rexha has clapped back at body-shaming trolls online, including in February 2025 when one told her she had “gained weight.”
“I’m very aware of everything,” she said via TikTok. “I know I gained weight. I know that I’ve been through a lot. I don’t want you to feel bad for me because I promise you I feel stronger than ever.”
That May, Rexha admitted she “suffered [a] pregnancy loss” and warned critics to “think twice before commenting on anyone’s body.”
