Make New York Post a Preferred Source A group of UK party-goers dressed as superheroes chased down a purse snatcher and scaled a towering wall to retrieve a woman’s stolen handbag during a night out.
Sonni Mason, 25, was attending a friend’s party on Saturday night — dressed in a full Batman costume — when he witnessed a handbag being stolen in a nightclub and sprang into action, according to The Guardian.
“That’s what [Batman] is about. He’s a protector,” Mason, who is from London and works in a cafe, told the outlet.
“I hope I can inspire people to be a little bit more like Batman,” he added.
The caped crusader, along with his friends who were dressed as Mr. Fantastic and Poison Ivy, wasted no time and sprang into action, alerting nearby cops and going on the chase, the outlet reported.
The thief, being chased by superheroes through the dark Norwich streets, quickly abandoned the loot and tossed the bag on top of a high flint wall on the perimeter of the city’s famous cathedral.
Mason, still in his Batman costume, scaled the wall, retrieved the bag and returned it to the woman it belonged to, who appeared ecstatic and grateful, according to a video of the heroics captured on a TikTok video uploaded to Mason’s account.
“I just hope more people will be inspired to do the same if they see someone being mugged or feeling uncomfortable on a night out,” said the hero.
“It shouldn’t take a superhero costume to make you want to do that,” he added.
A Norfolk police spokesperson confirmed the robbery and Batman’s heroics.
