Make New York Post a Preferred Source For the third year in a row, the NFL is returning to Brazil.
After the league’s previous two games were played in São Paulo, the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys will become the first teams to play an NFL game in Rio de Janiero.
The game isn’t without concerns, though, as the NFLPA has raised concerns about loose, patchy grass on the field at Maracanã Stadium. It was being worked on as recently as two days before the game to improve “resistance and safety.”
“I believe the NFL does a great job at having their specialists go out there and look over the fields,” Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson said when asked about the field conditions. “I cannot worry about that. I just have to worry about getting us a dub in Brazil. [As for] the field, we have played on bad fields plenty of times, so I cannot really dwell on that.”
Both teams enter today’s game with 1-1 records after two weeks of the regular season.
Dallas got back on track in Week 2 with a decisive 37-20 home victory over the Washington Commanders to bounce back from their season-opening loss to the Giants. Dak Prescott and the offense hit their stride, throwing for four touchdowns and controlling the clock behind a dominant performance from CeeDee Lamb.
On the flip side, the Ravens are looking to reset after a heartbreaking 24-17 home-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 that ended on a late-game interception near the goal line. Baltimore looks to assert its physical style on a global stage, leaning on Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry to dominate the ground game and control field position.
