A heart-stopping photo of Chief Aaron Edwards leaping over a barricade amid Sunday’s chaos has exploded on social media, racking up millions of views and heaps of praise for his brave actions.

“Some heroes wear capes — Chief Aaron Edwards wears blue,” the NYPD said as they blasted out the iconic black-and-white image.

The image spurred a wave of gratitude for the police chief.

“Hero mode activated—God bless this man and all NYPD! Into danger without pause,” one person commented.

“Chief Aaron Edwards deserves a raise and a medal. When others were running away from danger, he was running toward it—ready to risk everything so others could live. That’s what real courage looks like,” another gushed.

“Thank you Chief Aaron Edwards for helping restore my faith in humanity, and heroism,” others said.
