Make New York Post a Preferred Source A missing Long Island swimmer who disappeared into towering waves churned by a deadly nor’easter is alive and well, state police revealed Sunday.
The still-unidentified man contacted authorities after learning he was the subject of a search off Robert Moses State Park, according to a joint statement from New York State Police and New York State Park Police.

The swimmer sparked fears Saturday when he was spotted jumping — and apparently vanishing — into 18-foot waves near Field 3 on Fire Island’s western tip.
