Make New York Post a Preferred Source A drunken hobo who savagely slashed a man in the gut and left his intestines hanging out in front of a Big Apple deli this week has already been sprung by a woke judge, The Post has learned.
The fight broke out among three men who were at the Fresh Food Farm grocery at East 69th Street and Second Avenue on the Upper East Side around 10 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.
It wasn’t clear what sparked the brawl, according to police.
Antonio Bonifacaio allegedly pulled a box cutter and sliced the victim, leaving a cut that was about six inches long on his abdomen and “his intestines protruding out,” according to a criminal complaint.
The victim also had cuts on his hands, the complaint showed.
Bonifacaio, 34, was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon on Thursday, according to court records. Eddy Idrovo Chamba, 25, who is also homeless, was also charged with assault for the melee.
Police found an orange boxcutter in Bonifacaio’s right back pants pocket, according to the criminal complaint.
EMS responded and transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition. He underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition, cops said.
Prosecutors requested bail at $100,000 cash, $200,000 insurance bond or $200,000 partially secured bond at his arraignment, the records show.
Bonifacaio pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was released on his own recognizance by lenient Judge Sheridan Jack-Browne, according to court records. His next court date is in November.
Jack-Browne, a Democrat, won a special election in 2025 to serve as a judge for the 2nd Municipal Court District in Kings County, Brooklyn, but has been serving in Manhattan criminal court, records show.
She was “not approved” by the New York City Bar Association because she hadn’t “affirmatively demonstrated qualifications necessary … for the position” ahead of last year’s judicial elections, online records show.
Jack-Browne previously landed in hot water when she released career-criminal Gerardo Miguel Mora, 45,who was a wanted, deported felon.
Court officials insisted that she wasn’t notified about a federal warrant for the Mexican sex offender when he showed up in her Brooklyn courtroom on a shoplifting charge on Jan. 29. But the NYPD insisted Jack-Browne should have seen a notation in the file to hold the migrant.
Federal agents arrested Mora before he left the courthouse, officials said.
Mora had been deported from the US in 2014 after serving a year and a half in an upstate prison for an attempted rape in Midtown, and he had a long rap sheet – including a recent crack-possession charge.
