Make New York Post a Preferred Source A grieving grandfather was arrested inside a Phoenix courtroom Wednesday after pummeling the creep convicted of murdering his veteran son-in-law during an explosive sentencing hearing.
Alberto Ontiveros Sanchez, 55, launched himself at killer Abel Uribe inside Maricopa County Court around 10:30 a.m., and unloaded at least four wild punches on the back of his head as Uribe sat while waiting to be sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 murder of David Navidad-Parra, 27, Fox 10 and the Daily Mail reported.
His attorney, Christian Leuders, argued that Sanchez was overwhelmed with emotion over his son-in-law’s tragic death and that he “lost it” after he saw Navidad-Parra “laughing and snickering,”
“He’s been a model citizen for his entire life,” Leuders told the judge about his client.
Leuders emphasized that Sanchez has no prior criminal record and works full-time to support his children and grandchildren.
While expressing empathy for the father’s heartbreak, the judge refused to grant him a free pass.
“You attacked somebody in a courtroom, and now you’re asking the court to be lenient on you?” Judge Kristin Culbertson probed, according to the Daily Mail.
“I personally can’t imagine the emotions that you must have been feeling today, but we cannot tolerate that kind of conduct in court.”
Uribe was in court to face justice for the heinous killing, when Navidad-Parra vanished after taking a car for a routine test drive.
He was later found dead, and the car was discovered at a separate location after having been torched and charred.
Cops busted Uribe after catching him brazenly using Navidad-Parra’s credit card, leading to a first-degree murder plea, according to Fox 10.
The enraged father-in-law is facing charges of aggravated assault on a bound or restrained victim, fighting and interfering with a judicial proceeding.
