Ree Drummond’s adopted son allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck and threw her dog against a wall more than a year before he was arrested last week on drug and assault charges.
Jamar Goff, 23, was the subject of a protective order in Alabama after a woman he was allegedly in a “dating relationship” accused him of a series of violent incidents in May 2025, according to legal filing obtained by Page Six.
The woman, whose identity has not been made public, claimed Goff had been living at her apartment “for free” and had shown “multiple signs of aggression.”
In her May 28, 2025, petition for a protective order, she alleged that Goff punched a hole in her wall and flipped her couch while she and her dog were sitting on it.
“He grabbed me by the neck and pushed me down onto the couch and held me there until I could not breathe,” she alleged in the filing.
She also claimed Goff “threw my dog into a wall” and threatened to harm her while she was speaking with her sister on the phone.
The woman further alleged that Goff, a former University of Central Oklahoma football player, grabbed her arms and left bruises, while threatening to lock her inside her apartment.
A judge granted her protective order on May 28, 2025. Goff was ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from the woman, her workplace, school and other places she frequented, and was prohibited from harassing, stalking, annoying or threatening her.
The order remained in effect for one year and expired in May.
That same month, Goff was detained after allegedly biting a correctional officer’s hand.

The 2025 allegations were not the first time Goff had been accused of threatening a romantic partner.
In 2022, a separate woman in Oklahoma sought an emergency protective order after allegedly receiving “violent” calls and emails from Goff following their breakup. She claimed he threatened to come to her home and hurt her and anyone who tried to stop him.
A judge subsequently ordered Goff to stay at least 100 yards away from the woman and later issued a final protective order prohibiting contact. That order expired in August 2024.
The allegations resurfaced following Goff’s Sept. 15 arrest in Birmingham, Alabama.
According to court documents, police responded to the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus after receiving a report of a suspicious person, and allegedly found Goff sleeping shirtless near a fountain.
He allegedly told officers he was waiting for someone to sell him “ice,” a term for methamphetamine, before running when police discovered an outstanding felony failure-to-appear warrant.
Authorities allege Goff struck a UAB police officer in the chin with an open-handed palm before being subdued.
He was booked on charges including second-degree assault of a police officer, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude an officer and drug paraphernalia possession. His bond was set at $37,000.
Goff remains in Jefferson County Jail with no release date or upcoming court date listed.
Drummond, 57, and her husband, Ladd Drummond, became foster parents to Goff in 2018, when he was a teenager.
The Food Network star has not publicly addressed his recent legal troubles.
