While everyone else thinks Owen is the bad guy, Hannah is left with one clue that something bigger is going on: a note that simply says, “Protect her.” She immediately leaps into mama bear mode, guarding her teenaged stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) while searching for the truth about her husband.
The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 picks up the story five years later, right where Season 1 ends. A disheveled Owen sneaks into one of Hannah’s high end gallery showings and the two are briefly reunited. Can they be together again?
Over the course of The Last Thing He Told Me Season 1, we learned the reason that Owen went on the run had nothing to do with his failed tech company and everything to do with his past as a lawyer. He married into a wealthy family that made its money working for the dangerous Campano crime family. When Owen, really named Ethan, turned witness against the mob, his first wife was killed in retribution. Ethan became Owen, his daughter Kristin became Bailey, and they had to disappear.
