Add The California Post on Google Nithya Raman skipped a key Palisades Fire vote to rub shoulders with Hollywood elite on the Walk of Fame, it has emerged.
The far-left LA mayoral candidate failed to show up for the February 18, 2025, council meeting to instead pose up with actress Mindy Kaling, who was getting her star on the iconic strip.
“I’ve watched in awe and with pride as you’ve made your mark on the global stage, and when I heard you were about to make a physical mark on the city of Los Angeles, as the only South Asian representing this City I knew I had to be here to congratulate you personally,” Raman told Kaling, reported the Westside Current.
Back at City Hall, council members were plowing through a 40-item agenda that included multiple measures tied to the January wildfires.
The items, introduced by Councilwoman Traci Park, sought additional annual and visitor parking permits for people displaced by the fires.
Another explored waiving plan-check, permit and other city fees for people rebuilding structures destroyed in the Palisades Fire.
Raman was among four council members absent for at least some of the fire-related votes, along with Park, Bob Blumenfield and Hugo Soto-Martínez.
The measures passed unanimously among those present. Raman’s campaign pushed back, saying her absence did not change the outcome and that she wants to be a part of the recovery efforts.
“This motion passed unanimously, and votes not cast from the three Councilmembers who were absent did not affect the outcome,” campaign spokeswoman Liz Garcia told The Post.
“Nithya has introduced and moved multiple Council measures addressing fire response and recovery and released a detailed Palisades Recovery Plan,” Garcia added.
“As mayor, she would work closely with Councilmember Park and the community to help residents rebuild and return home as quickly as possible.”
Raman’s attendance record has become a campaign flashpoint as she battles Mayor Karen Bass for City Hall.
Bass’ campaign has accused Raman of missing 2,966 of the council’s 20,973 votes between December 2020 and Aug. 20, even launching a “No Show Nithya” website attacking her absences.
Raman has pushed back on the broader criticism, pointing to scheduling conflicts with outside board assignments.
Her involvement in the Palisades recovery has also drawn fire from Park, who represents the devastated community.
“Nithya Raman never once offered to help, ever” Park recently fired back after Raman pledged to work with her on rebuilding.
The scrutiny comes just as Raman is surging citywide.
A UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times and released Wednesday showed Raman leading Bass by a whopping 11 points, 39% to 28%, although 33% of likely voters remain undecided.
Bass’ camp has pushed back on the results, pointing to the large pool of undecided voters and dismissing the survey as an “outlier” compared with other recent polling showing a tighter race.
