Add The California Post on Google Intel Corporation is downsizing its workforce with a new round of permanent layoffs.
The chipmaking giant will eliminate 52 manufacturing roles in its Santa Clara after filing a California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) on Sept 18. Sept 30 will be the last day of work for the affected employees.
The impacted sites include Intel’s primary corporate headquarters at the Robert Noyce Building, located at 2200 Mission College Boulevard, where 22 employees will be laid off.

Getty Images Additional reductions are distributed across three nearby Santa Clara offices that include 24 staff members at the SC-12 location on 3600 Juliette Lane, five workers at the SC-9 facility at 3601 Juliette Lane, and a single employee at the SC-11 office at 2191 Laurelwood Road.
Intel’s layoffs come on the heels of several rounds of job cuts across the tech industry in California. Earlier this month, payments giant PayPal announced that it will be firing 251 employees at its San Jose headquarters, affecting dozens of senior directors, managers and engineers.

Oracle employees also woke up to shocking early morning termination emails on Sept 14, informing them it would be their last day at the tech giant in its latest round of layoffs. The tech giant sent out termination emails at 6 a.m., citing “broader organizational change” as the reason for the layoffs.
“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day,” the layoff email read, reported Business Insider.
California-based Uber also announced a major organizational restructuring in September, revealing plans to eliminate 10% of its global workforce, impacting approximately 3,300 employees.
