Add The California Post on Google The infamous “Tylenol Murderer” — responsible for the poisoning deaths of seven people — was likely a California man who died by suicide inside an Idaho church in 1982, according to new evidence released to the public.
Mathew Francis Betkouski, nicknamed the “Unknown Wanderer” until his true identity had been revealed, is believed to be the same person who laced painkillers with cyanide and killed seven people in 1982 Chicago, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office in Boise, Idaho announced Tuesday.
Investigators said several pieces of evidence linked Betkouski, who died by suicide via cyanide poisoning in a church, with the “Tylenol Murderer,” but noted they lacked a definitive “smoking gun” connecting the two.
Cops also produced multiple pieces of evidence that link Betkouski to the Tylenol Murders, although ACSO Cold Case Detective Tim Cooper said his office lacked major piece of evidence that would allow them to definitively name Betkouski as a suspect.
