Carr addressed the chatter with an X post on Wednesday.
An X account went viral for posting a fake image of Carr wearing a Giants jersey with the caption, “SHOULD THE NEW YORK #GIANTS GET DEREK CARR TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND PLAY QUARTERBACK FOR THEM THIS SEASON…?”
Carr responded on Wednesday, writing, “Beautiful picture but I’m too busy trying to find a level 40 crew to join.”

Carr is referring to the video game NBA 2K27, where a “level 40 crew” is the highest group in the game’s multiplayer system. Only those who have dedicated a lot of time to the basketball video game have reached this level.
In other words, Carr is saying he is too busy playing video games to come out of retirement for the Giants.

But it’s interesting that he doesn’t appear interested in the Giants job, given reports earlier this year that he is seriously considering a return to the NFL.
Perhaps that’s no longer the case. Or perhaps Carr just isn’t interested in joining the Giants.
