Add The California Post on Google A teen boy has been killed and his sister seriously injured after they were smashed by a hit-and-run driver in front of their mother.
Horrifying surveillance video captured the moment the speeding vehicle slammed into the pair as screams were heard in LA’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
The boy was killed, and his sister was hospitalized. Their mom was believed to have been with them when they were crossing the road.
The LAPD told The Post a driver and their passenger collided with the two victims as it traveled eastbound down 60th Street around 9:35 p.m.
The vehicle then hit a parked car and those inside took off on foot without identifying themselves or rendering aid, police said.
The male killed was 16, and his sister was 14, according to ABC 7. The suspects have been described as a male and a female.
Video from the scene showed a wrecked blue Nissan Sentra, which police say is the vehicle that collided with the teens. It sustained heavy damage to the front of the vehicle, with a shattered front windshield.
A white sheet could be seen covering a body in the middle of the street, with yellow tape surrounding it.
Sobbing could also be heard at the scene as a gathering of people stared at the horrific scene. Several people appeared to be distraught.
A witness at the scene, who lived in the area, said he believed the victims lived on the street and that he had seen them before.
“I heard the sound, we went out there and the mom was screaming,” Jerome Alexander said. “I looked, I seen the other boy.
“I walked right here, she hit this car. [They] jumped out and was running, and a dude came back and cleaned the car out for them.”
The suspects have not been apprehended, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
