Artist Camille Fishel and gallerist Adam Cohen welcomed guests at Zero Bond to show off Fishel's new series of paintings. Getty Images for Camille Fishel One Armory Show emerging artist, Camille Fishel, previewed her work at a starry, intimate bash at private NYC club Zero Bond on Tuesday night — before the work is shown at the Javits Center.
Fishel, the partner of Fanatics billionaire Michael Rubin, is being repped by gallerist Adam Cohen — the Gagosian vet who launched his own Manhattan gallery, A Hug From the Art World, to focus on emerging artists.
At the gathering celebrating Fishel’s new art was Rubin, plus Cohen and his wife — art world darling and curator Michelle Hellman — Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, top artists George Condo and Rashid Johnson, photog Sophie Elgort, Noah Tepperberg and Melissa Wood-Tepperberg, comedian Keegan-Michael Key, Gayle King, Russell Wilson, former Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck, Wendi Deng Murdoch, Zack Bia, Zero Bond co-founder Scott Sartiano, Will Makris, Gary Vaynerchuk and more.
Some paintings in Fishel’s inaugural oil-on-canvas series, “Bending Over Backwards,” were snapped up even before they hit the Armory Show floor, we hear. All eight paintings from the series were on display, four of which will be shown at Booth 128.
Towns and his new wife, Jordyn Woods, just curated a show for Sotheby’s that included art by Condo, Johnson, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Helen Frankenthaler, Alma Thomas, John Chamberlain and more. The couple’s Contemporary Curated auction kicked off with a VIP dinner at the Sotheby’s Breuer building.
KAT, who dramatically won a ring with the Knicks, was speaking authoritatively at Fishel’s VIP preview about the works by Warhol and others that could fetch millions at his Sotheby’s show. The exhibition opens publicly on Oct. 2 at the Breuer in New York, and a live auction hits Oct. 7.
“A year ago I went to her studio and saw the beginnings of these paintings,” Cohen said of Fishel. “I told her I’d been working a Gagosian for 20-odd years and one of the reasons I opened my own gallery five years ago… was so I could work with emerging artists like Camille.” Fishel noted that all of her work examines the different ways in which women are put into boxes.
Condo was a guest at the wedding of Towns and Woods, and the NBA star is close pals with Johnson — whose work he collects. Vogue previously reported that Towns is a particular fan of Roy Lichtenstein.
Condo has previously created custom invitations for Rubin’s Hamptons White Party.

He’ll be back at the Javits Center this weekend to support Fishel. The venue also hosts his Fanatics Fest, which was attended this year by Towns, as well as Jalen Brunson, Tom Brady, Justin Bieber, Serena Williams, LeBron James and many more.
