Add The New York Post on Google “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson claimed that studios have discouraged him from discussing politics publicly after the actor drew attention for his political rants.
The Christian Post reported that Ritchson jokingly remarked about the warnings he’d received from production studios during a Fan Expo Canada panel earlier this month.
“You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut the f— up, please? Stop talking in public,’” Ritchson said. “I mean, but it’s not chaos I’m after.
“It’s actually the opposite of chaos. I’d like a little — I’m not going to get into it. You don’t want to see my rants starring these g—— f—— politicians everywhere.
“I’m not going to do it. Sony told me not to. And I’m not going to say anything. Not today. Not today, [Jeffrey] Epstein.”
After the audience cheered his comments, he gave a fist bump to the moderators and declared, “Pedos win.”
Ritchson also claimed Amazon Prime Video killed a “Reacher” storyline involving White supremacists and suggested the move was political.
In a comment on Threads last week, he replied to a fan who expressed disappointment that the Amazon Prime Video series would not adapt a book in the series where Jack Reacher “kills his way through a White supremacist militia camp.”
Ritchson replied that he was also pushing for the book to be adapted but was turned down, suggesting it was due to President Trump’s return to office.
“My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” Ritchson wrote.
Fox News Digital reached out to Sony and Amazon Prime Video for comment.
A professed Christian, Ritchson has attacked conservative Christians based on their support for Republicans. In a Hollywood Reporter interview from April 2024, Ritchson criticized Christian supporters of Trump.
“Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it,” Ritchson said.
One month later, he claimed he was “met with violence” for sharing these and other views.
“If you want to see violence flee the world, be more generous to everybody! That is the Christian ethic! That is what I don’t see happening. And when I speak up about it in my own ways, I’m met with violence,” Ritchson said.
In a comment to Fox News Digital, Christian Toto, of Hollywood in Toto, remarked that Ritchson is “doing all he can to personally sabotage” his own projects.
“The actor’s political rants are even worse than what Robert De Niro says on a given day. It’s hysterical blather, and his ‘Reacher’ fans are noticing,” Toto said.
“That brings to mind two questions. If his film studios are begging him to stay apolitical, why doesn’t he listen to them? Did that actually happen? Do other film studios ask their stars to avoid political screeds in interviews?
“Doesn’t he realize the precious gift he’s been given, to be able to headline major motion pictures? Doesn’t he understand how fleeting that kind of fame can be and how audiences might be turned off by his unhinged rhetoric?”
